Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath
Description
Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath is an Art Complex, operating in Bangalore from the mid-sixties as the leading centre for Visual Arts. It is a landmark for Visual Culture in the city and the State. It comprises a network of Museums, Galleries and Archives that display a valuable collection of Pan- Indian Visual Culture that includes Folk, Traditional, Modern and Contemporary Art. It is also hosting a college of Fine Arts: Under Graduation, Post-Graduation and Research Program in Visual Arts.
History
Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, situated at the heart of the Bengaluru City, was established in the year 1960 by the founder President Late M. ARYA MURTHY and founder Secretary Late Professor M.S Nanjunda Rao. In 1990, a Russian painter Nicholas Roerich and his son Dr Svetoslav Roerich, also a painter, donated 117 paintings to this Parishath. Now those paintings are selected for permanent display as a tribute to their work.
